Department of Bengali

The Department of Bengali offers three years Undergraduate Honours and General Degree courses to the students of Sukanta College. Currently there are three faculty members in the department, who provide a friendly environment in the teaching-learning process as they go beyond the scheduled hours of classroom teaching. The faculties concerned are easily approachable and never hesitate in extending personal care to each and every student in their need.

Faculty Profiles :

  • Dr. Anjana Saha MA (Rabindra Bharati University), Ph.D. (Rabindra Bharati University), B.Ed. (Rabindra Bharati University)
    Assistant Professor & Head

Dr. Anjana Saha, is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Bengali, at Sukanta College, University of Calcutta. She was previously served as an Assistant Professor and Head in the Department of Bengali at S.C.B.C. College, University of Kalayani, from 2008 to 2017. She completed her M.A. in Bengali from R.B.U in the year 2000. Her Ph.D thesis was on Mediaeval Bengali Literature. Her publications include several essays on Ancient Bengali literature, Mediaeval Bengali literature and Modern and Post Modern Bengali literature. She has also presented a number of papers International, National, State level seminar and conference.

Area of Research :

Bangla O Bangalir Ekanta Jiboner Ruppachhabi Ebong Mangalkabyer Bichitra Bhuvan.

Areas of Interest :

Comparative Literature, Women's Study, Drama.

Message to the Students :

  • Sri. Susanta Majumdar MA (University of Calcutta), MPhil. (University of Calcutta), B.Ed. (University of Calcutta), B.Muse (J.N.S.M.V.)
    State Aided College Teacher (SACT)

Sri Susanta Majumdar completed his masters and M.Phil. from the University of Calcutta and worked as a school teacher for a considerably long period of time. He joined the Department of Bengali at Sukanta College in 2008 in the capacity of a Contractual Whole-Time Teacher and also worked as the Teacher-in-charge for a few days in the 2014-’15 academic session. Now he is working as a State Aided College Teacher in the department.

Drama.

    State Aided College Teacher (SACT)

Sri Bikash Naskar, is currently working as a State Aided College Teacher in the Department of Bengali at Sukanta College. He has completed his masters from the University of Calcutta and also did his B. Ed. from Sabuj B. Ed. College affiliated to the West Bengal University of Teacher's Training Education Planning and Administration (WBUTTEPA).
